Rate this audiobook

Since being sworn in on February 6, 1986, the Commission has been able to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the Challenger accident. This report documents our findings and makes recommendations for your consideration. Our objective has been not only to prevent any recurrence of the failure related to this accident, but to the extent possible to reduce other risks in future flights. Each member of the Commission shared the pain and anguish the nation felt at the loss of the seven brave Americans in the Challenger accident on January 28, 1986. The nation’s task now is to move ahead to return to safe space flight and to its recognized position of leadership in space. There could be no more fitting tribute to the Challenger crew than to do so. (Summary from the letter of commission)     [chương_files]

This is a chronicle of the 19 most interesting inventions of the early 20th century. Some of the inventions are still in use and of considerable impact today, while others are examples of the strong belief in progress prevalent at the time would probably be frowned upon today. In this way, the author’s account of how ice was made at the time will still be very interesting for readers today, but an account of how dynamite was going to be used in farming may be seen as humorous to the contemporary reader. The subjects are as varied as science herself is, and any reader and listener should find a subject matching his or her own taste. – Summary by Carolin     [chương_files]

As it would be impossible to treat, in the compass of a few hundred pages, all the great engineering feats of modern times without reducing individual accounts to uninteresting brevity, the author has preferred, where selection is possible, to take typical instances of engineering practice, and, by the aid of comparatively detailed descriptions, to place the reader in a position to appreciate them and similar undertakings. – Summary by Adapted from the Preface     [chương_files]

“The time to which this tragedy relates is much later than that of any other of Racine’s historical plays. Racine’s version of the time-honored story of Iphigenia was acted for the first time in 1674. The model upon which it is shaped is the “Iphigenia in Aulis” of his favorite Euripides, but the French poet has heightened the romantic interest and complicated the plot by the important part which Eriphyle is made to play. – Summary by Introduction Cast list: Agamemnon: Greg Giordano Achilles: Alan Mapstone Ulysses: ToddHW Clytaemnestra, Wife of Agamemnon: Sonia Iphigenia, Daughter of Agamemnon: Jenn Broda Eriphyle, Daughter of Helen and Theseus: Diana Helen Kennedy Arcas, Servant of Agamemnon: Tomas Peter Eurybates, Servant of Agamemnon: Mark Kilkelly Aegina, Attendant of Clytaemnestra: Sandra Schmit Doris, Friend of Eriphyle: Joanna Michal Hoyt Stage Directions: Larry Wilson Editing: ToddHW     [chương_files]
