This collection of ten stories, first published in 1904, shows Edith Wharton dissecting some of the customs, habits and vagaries of courtship and marriage, particularly as practiced in the upper reaches of New York society at the turn of the twentieth century (two stories, however, are set in Italy). Fidelity is only one problem; others may arise from the machinations and emotions of the protagonists or outsiders. Wharton handles the questions with her usual gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) irony and curiosity about human behavior. [chương_files]

These are 12 imaginative stories written by A.A. Milne about beautiful 12 illustrations originally published in the Colliers magazine. (I strongly urge listeners to go to the book using the link provided and look at each illustration while listening. The story he weaves is intimately involved with what is going on there. I promise you will be delighted.) He wove these into flights of fancy and fun about the children shown; their background, problems and desires. There is already a delightful collaborative version of this book in our catalog; however, I like these stories and just want to have the joy of reading them myself. So this will be my solo attempt to bring these stories to life for children and adults. – Summary by phil chenevert [chương_files]
